MS. GEEK AFRICA 2024 APPLICATION FORM
PROBLEM STATEMENT
This year’s Ms. Geek Africa challenge embraces the theme "Girls in ICT Driving Climate Resilience through Emerging Technologies in Africa." This initiative aims to utilize advanced technology to foster a sustainable and environmentally friendly economy while empowering women across the continent.
In today’s world grappling with the persistent challenges of climate change, technological innovations play a pivotal role in addressing these issues. Cutting-edge technologies enhance our comprehension of climate change and enable us to develop scientifically grounded solutions. Women and girls in Africa, particularly those in rural areas, bear a disproportionate burden due to climate change. Hence, Girls in ICT must focus on empowering African women to leverage both existing and emerging technologies to combat climate change effectively.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to identify opportunities across various sectors and propose solutions that enable African women to harness technology for creating a sustainable and greener economy, thereby addressing critical environmental challenges and enhancing their involvement in technology and innovation.

SOLUTION
1. Achieving a Greener Digital Economy in Africa using STEM: (50 words)

3. Product/Service Description: Describe your proposed product or service and how it addresses the identified challenge. (200 words)
4. Target Customers and Partners: Identify potential users and partners and explain how your product/service delivers value to them. (100 words)

SELECTION CRITERIA
1. You must be between the ages of 13 and 21 years old
2. Your application must describe the problem you want to solve, how your solution will solve it, a conceptual design, what technologies you are using/should be used to develop it, key stakeholders, and how content will be generated, and shared.
3. Your solution must be original or an innovative improvement to existing technologies.
4. You must consider that most Africans have limited access to the internet and smart devices.
5. A graphical presentation must accompany the concept note, demonstrating how the solution will work and an example of the user interface.

Le défi Ms. Geek Africa de cette année adopte le thème "Les filles dans la Technologie pour la résilience climatique grâce aux technologies émergentes en Afrique". Cette initiative vise à utiliser la technologie avancée pour promouvoir une économie durable et respectueuse de l’environnement tout en autonomisant les femmes à travers le continent.
Dans le monde d’aujourd’hui, confronté aux défis persistants du changement climatique, les innovations technologiques jouent un rôle crucial dans la résolution de ces problèmes. Les technologies de pointe améliorent non seulement notre compréhension du changement climatique, mais elles nous permettent également de développer des solutions scientifiquement fondées. Les femmes et les filles en Afrique, en particulier celles des zones rurales, supportent un fardeau disproportionné en raison du changement climatique. Ainsi, les filles dans la technologie doivent se concentrer sur l’autonomisation des femmes africaines pour tirer parti des technologies existantes et émergentes afin de combattre efficacement le changement climatique.
Les candidates potentielles sont encouragées à identifier des opportunités dans divers secteurs et à proposer des solutions permettant aux femmes africaines d’utiliser la technologie pour créer une économie durable et plus verte, tout en répondant aux défis environnementaux critiques et en renforçant leur participation dans la technologie et l’innovation.

3. Description du produit/service : Décrivez votre produit ou service proposé et comment il répond au défi identifié. (200 mots)
4. Clients cibles et partenaires : Identifiez les utilisateurs potentiels et les partenaires et expliquez comment votre produit/service leur apporte de la valeur. (100 mots)
5. Informations supplémentaires : Tout autre détail que vous souhaitez ajouter. (50 mots)
LES CRITÈRES DE SÉLECTION
1. Vous devez avoir entre 13 et 21 ans
2. Votre candidature doit décrire le problème que vous souhaitez résoudre, comment votre solution le résoudra, un design conceptuel, les technologies que vous utilisez/devriez utiliser pour le développer, les parties prenantes clés, et comment le contenu sera généré et partagé.
3. Votre solution doit être originale ou une amélioration innovante des technologies existantes.
4. Vous devez prendre en compte que la plupart des Africains ont un accès limité à Internet et aux appareils intelligents.
5. Une présentation graphique doit accompagner la note conceptuelle, montrant comment la solution fonctionnera et un exemple de l’interface utilisateur.
